New packaging, same divine dip

March 2025

Toby Green, a self confessed lover of Taramasalata, first bought Elysian Foods back in 2017. He's made a number of changes over the years; from conducting in-store tastings to meet our customers and adding sustainable considerations to how we operate, right through to changes to our packaging to reflect his and his partner Sarah's style.

We've grown considerably over recent years, as more New Zealanders discover our unique flavours. We like to think we've kept the authentic Mediterranean recipes and added a kiwi flair to appeal to local tastebuds.

One of our top priorities is to be more sustainable where possible, and addressing our plastic packaging has been on our minds for some time (check out our Podcast with Consumer NZ). After deciding to stay with plastic packaging, we wanted to find the most recyclable option. In May 2025 we're moving to Pack Tech Moulding pots, which we're excited to say use recyclable lids (at your local recycling drop off depot), and the pot uses 20% less plastic than our previous versions!

Pack Tech also have a number of programmes to minimise waste and recycle on-site. Our new pots are slightly narrower and taller, making it easier to find us on the supermarket shelves.

While addressing our packaging, it was time to review our branding.

While we loved our logo, it was time to help consumers find us - we know our products can be hard to spot! So we now use a stronger font and we've added a wee olive branch which ensures we're always tied to our Mediterranean roots.

A huge thank you to Cicala Design who worked with us to create our new logo, we just love it and we hope you do too. You'll see our new logo popping up in our packaging, website, social media and events over the coming weeks.
