Why we love attending events
It’s a lot of fun attending events - big and small. From the Auckland Food Show with hundreds of exhibitors, to an in-store market day with just a dozen, it’s always interesting meeting other producers and of course our customers.
Events also take a lot of planning, people-power and effort. So for small businesses, perhaps there’re better ways to invest resources?
We don't think so. At the food shows in Auckland, Tauranga and Wellington this year alone, we’ve spoken to over 3,900 people who wanted to know more about what we do, where to find us and some took divine dips and olives home with them.
“We can’t get that kind of meaningful dialogue with consumers any other way”
Toby, Elysian Foods’ owner.
Connecting with customers and communities is a key value of ours. When Toby first bought the business back in 2017, instead of investing in large, expensive campaigns, he spent hours doing in-store tastings in a range of stores across the Wellington region.
“It’s really the only way to understand what consumers actually want and how they like to use our products.”
The Elysian team can’t be everywhere, so we have some great demonstrators who help us - you may have spotted them in their blue aprons in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch.
“We try to get further afield but when we can’t, we work with the amazing independent stores such as deli’s, butchers and boutique stores who offer tastings as well, just without us there.”
